Resolution and speed at A1 II level
The newly developed Exmor RS stacked sensor and BIONZ XR2 processor enable 30 fps burst shooting in 14-bit RAW and blackout-free capture. With 16 stops of dynamic range and Real-time Recognition AF+, you accurately track every subject and capture every moment with maximum detail.
IBIS has been improved to 8.5 stops center, and the ergonomic grip is based on that of the A1 II, giving you a deeper grip and more control during prolonged use. The new battery system, the NP-SA100, offers 17% more capacity with fast charging to 80% in 55 minutes. For video, the A7R VI supports 8K 30p, 4K 120p and All-I 4:2:2 10-bit recording.

Resolution and image quality
66.8 MP Exmor RS: speed without a resolution compromise
The newly developed 66.8 MP Exmor RS stacked sensor has a high readout speed, which keeps rolling shutter well contained and makes 30 fps burst shooting in 14-bit RAW possible. Dynamic range comes in at 16 stops thanks to the combination of the Exmor RS and the BIONZ XR2 processor.
The new RAW file system offers three compression levels: Lossless Comp for maximum quality, Compressed HQ for high resolution at smaller file sizes, and Compressed for fast workflows. This lets you pick the right balance between image quality and storage space for every job.
Autofocus and speed
30 fps, 14-bit RAW and Real-time Recognition AF+
The A7R VI reaches 30 fps burst shooting with the electronic shutter in 14-bit RAW. Real-time Recognition AF+ works with improved pose estimation for people and also recognizes animals, vehicles and insects. Thanks to 66.8 MP, you can crop images shot from a distance afterwards while your subject stays sharp in the frame.
Pre-Capture records up to 1 second before the shutter is released, indispensable for the unpredictable behavior of wildlife or sports subjects. The high readout speed of the Exmor RS sensor keeps rolling shutter to a minimum during panning and fast movement.

Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5 GM OSS
The FE 100-400mm f/4.5 GM OSS is the first 100-400mm telephoto zoom in the G Master line with a constant f/4.5 aperture across the entire range. That prevents exposure shift while zooming and delivers consistent bokeh from 100 to 400mm. Four XD Linear Motors with advanced algorithms deliver AF up to 3x faster and roughly 50% better tracking than its predecessor.
The internal zoom construction keeps length and center of gravity constant while zooming, so balance on a tripod, monopod or handheld doesn't change. A 40.5mm drop-in filter holder at the rear allows the use of ND and CPL filters without large front filters. The zoom torque switch offers a Smooth setting for quick focal-length changes with moving subjects and a Tight setting for stable framing with fixed compositions. At 1,840 grams the lens is compact for its class. With the 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverter, you extend the range to roughly 560mm or 800mm while retaining G Master image quality. Fluorine coating, dust- and moisture-resistant sealing and a built-in security slot round off the professional package.
