GR LENS 18.3mm F/2.8 lens with new features

One improvement on the Ricoh GRIII is the lens. The camera features a GR Lens 18.3 mm with an aperture of F/2.8. This lens is designed to give you optimum image quality. With a built-in high-refraction low-dispersion lens element and a glass-moulded lens element, you get bright and sharp images, with reduced aberrations, flare and ghosting. Using the optional GW-4 Wide Conversion Lens, you can increase the angle of view to a 21mm ultra-wide angle. This lens also offers options for macro photography with a minimum focusing distance of six centimetres.

The Ricoh GR III features a built-in ND filter with 2-stop exposure compensation. This gives you a beautiful bokeh effect when shooting at an aperture of F/2.8. At an aperture of F/16, you can capture beautiful light trails.

Stabilisation, more pixels and fast processor

The Ricoh GR III is equipped with a 24.4 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. This ensures high-resolution images, higher than the Ricoh GR II. This had a resolution of just 16.2 megapixels. This means your shots have a high resolution full of gradation. The Ricoh GRIII records video in Full HD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a frame rate of 60. The GR III also has a newly developed GR ENGINE 6 image processor. Image data is now processed more quickly by the sensor and offers an ISO sensitivity of 102,400. The autofocus system has also been changed, allowing you to focus even more sharply, quickly and precisely.

In addition, the Ricoh GRIII has a built-in 3-axis stabilisation system. This compensates for movements made by the camera, giving your videos a less shaky image. Microscopic vibrations with sub-pixel precision are also applied to the image sensor. As a result, the camera’s AA (anti-aliasing) Filter Simulator provides the same level of moiré reduction as an optical AA filter. You can switch this function on or off at shutter speeds longer than 1/1000 seconds.

Convenient touchscreen and visual effects

The Ricoh GR III is equipped with a 3.0" LCD touchscreen screen. This gives you full control over your camera settings, such as autofocus, menu selection and magnification. You also won’t be bothered by reflections when shooting outdoors. Thanks to the ‘Outdoor View’ function, you can adjust the screen brightness for better visibility in poor lighting conditions.

In addition, this camera gives you the option to apply visual effects. The camera has 10 basic modes for image control, allowing you to set the saturation, hue and contrast to your own preferences, for example. You can save your own settings under the ‘Image Control’ function.

Bluetooth and wireless LAN connection

It is also possible to connect the camera to your mobile devices. This allows you to use a Live View image and control the camera via Bluetooth. It is also possible to add location data to your shots.
