The Canon EOS Ra is the ultimate full-frame mirrorless camera that has been specially developed for astrophotography. The sensor features an IR filter on the front, which provides approximately fourfold improved transmission and sensitivity to H-alpha (656.28nm) wavelengths. This provides the utmost clarity when photographing astronomical phenomena. The mirrorless camera thus offers greater colour neutrality without unwanted infrared contamination. For improved focusing precision on distant subjects, a 30x live view magnification setting has been added.Apart from these distinctive features, the EOS Ra has the same functions as the EOS R. Like producing high-resolution, well-detailed images.

The EOS Ra has a 30.3 Megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 8 image processor. This combination offers a wide sensitivity range up to ISO 40000, fast continuous shooting up to 8 fps and UHD 4K30 video recording. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system uses 5,655 selectable points to focus quickly and accurately. With sensitivity up to EV -6, this autofocus system works impressively well in dark conditions. The extensive UHD 4K video recording options also benefit from the AF system. In addition, the EOS Ra for video also uses Movie Digital IS to reduce camera shake, built-in Canon Log gamma for greater dynamic range and 4K 10-bit 4: 2: 2 HDMI output for even better control over colours.

The clear electronic viewfinder projects images almost identical to that of a naked eye. This is possible thanks to the OLED EVF with a high resolution of 3.69m. On the back of the camera you will find a 2.15m-dot LCD touchscreen of 3.15-inch. For more flexibility, the screen can be rotated to record from all angles. For example, the screen can be tilted forward during vlogging. There is also a multifunctional touch bar for intuitive adjustment of recording settings. With the EOS Ra you don't have to worry about damage in bad weather conditions.Since the body is made of magnesium alloy which is dust- and moisture-proof.
