Andrea Caramello: From passion to professional image maker

What started with photographing mountain landscapes grew into my work as a photographer and videographer. I capture stories in nature and sport, where I don’t just want to make images, but also convey the feeling behind the moment.

Hanni Fazekaš

“I want to make people feel good, and you should be able to see that in the photo.”

For Hanni (26), photography doesn’t start with the camera, but with the person in front of it. Whether she’s shooting a wedding, developing a fashion concept or meeting people on the street: it’s the stories behind the faces that move her. She deliberately chooses not to put herself or her art in a box. “I want to give women visibility, challenge existing beauty ideals and make room for different people and stories.”

HOW IT STARTED

At twelve, her parents gave her a small pink digital camera. A few years later, she secretly took her father’s DSLR from his desk. Luckily he could laugh about it, and she later got one of her own. With that camera she did her first paid assignment in December 2024. What started as experimenting with friends grew into her profession, always with the same drive: capturing what happens between people.

Why Hanni Fazekaš creates

01

Motivation

Creativity and connecting with people: that’s the combination that drives Hanni. She gets the most satisfaction from the moment a photo or an encounter boosts someone’s self-confidence. Through her work she gives women a voice and shows that their body is beautiful, exactly as it is.

02

Inspiration

She often finds her ideas in small, everyday moments: special light, a striking outfit, an interesting passer-by. Art exhibitions, fashion magazines and conversations with other photographers also fuel her creativity. And when she gets stuck? She deliberately steps away from social media to find her own perspective again. A habit every maker can benefit from.

03

Ambition

Standing still is not an option. Hanni wants to keep her curiosity alive, take workshops herself, organise more creative workshops and appear in magazines more often. The big dream? Travelling the world with her street photography, capturing people and cultures in all kinds of places.

04

Advice

“Don’t let others influence you too much and do your own thing.” Experiment, step out of your comfort zone and be patient: your own style develops over time. Just start, stay curious and don’t be afraid to ask for help or feedback.

Andrea Caramello

“For me, photography is a way to share a moment. I want the viewer to feel what I experience myself.”

As a photographer and videographer, Andrea (26) captures what you can’t easily put into words: the light above the mountains of Haute-Savoie, wild animals, athletes pushing their limits. Every environment calls for a different perspective, and that variety is exactly what makes his work so compelling

HOW IT STARTED

Andrea started taking photos in 2018, not to make it his profession, but out of a love for hiking and nature. One photo made all the difference: a sea of clouds above his hometown. “That’s when I felt very clearly for the first time: this is what I love to do.” Through online tutorials and above all lots of practice, he developed his own eye. In 2022 he followed a film course, diving deeper into light and storytelling. That’s how his hikes grew into a craft, still with the same drive: sharing special moments with others.

Why Andrea Caramello creates

01

Motivation

It all started with hiking. In the mountains of Haute-Savoie, Andrea discovered landscapes he didn’t just want to admire, but also capture. Ever since, he has wanted his images to make the viewer feel what he experiences there himself.

02

Inspiration

Nature and mountain landscapes remain his biggest source of inspiration. In the beginning, he learned a lot by studying the work of other image makers. That’s how he developed his own eye, step by step. Today his focus is mainly on his own style and vision. A familiar path: first learn from others, then find your own direction.

03

Ambition

As an image maker, he wants to keep growing and tell stories that move people. Two destinations top his list: Japan and Patagonia, landscapes he hopes to photograph and film himself one day.

04

Advice

“Want to start with photography? Just grab your phone. I started with my iPhone too, and these days you can already make really beautiful images with a phone.” So there’s no need to wait for the perfect camera: start with what you have at hand.

Rances Verhoeff

“Photography really is my passion. It makes me so happy. It’s what I love doing most.”

Rances (25) works full-time as a fashion, portrait and beauty photographer, with images built around colour, contrast and standing out. He gets a lot of energy from coming up with creative concepts and bringing models, styling and light together into one whole. “For me, photography isn’t just about the end result. It’s also about the joy of creating, working together and the moment everything comes together the way I envisioned it.”

HOW IT STARTED

As a child, Rances was always being creative. When he got his first camera at twelve, a whole new world opened up. Sometimes he’d lie in the grass for half a day for that one perfect shot. He largely taught himself the craft, with a laminated card about shutter speed, ISO and aperture always within reach. After studying media design, he wrote a business plan and started doing shoots for influencers. One assignment led to the next. That’s how his curiosity grew into a full-time profession.

See below how Rances brings colour and contrast to life, or view his work on Instagram: @rancesverhoeffphotography.

Why Rances Verhoeff creates

01

Motivation

Creating striking images: that’s what energises Rances. His biggest satisfaction? When a creative idea comes together perfectly in an image that both he and the client are happy with.

02

Inspiration

Social media plays an important role in his creative process. He also gets ideas from locations, trends and working with models, stylists and make-up artists. So inspiration doesn’t have to come from your own head alone: a location or input from your team can be just as good a starting point for a strong image.

03

Ambition

His sights are set on bigger work: bigger campaigns, collaborations with better-known models and one day a magazine cover of his own. An international shoot is also high on his wishlist.

04

Advice

“My best advice for people who are just starting out with photography is really to do a lot. Take lots and lots of photos.” Simple but effective: the more you shoot, the faster you discover what works and what suits you.
