The neutral grey half of this graduated filter with a transmission of 50% makes the relevant part of the subject one stop darker without changing its colour. If, for example, the sky is too bright in relation to the landscape, this is the ideal value for good definition of the clouds and to prevent the blue sky from fading due to overexposure.

Only clean B+W filters guarantee that the high material and manufacturing quality can result in perfect image quality. The hard water- and dirt-repellent MRC anti-reflection coating helps you keep your B+W filters free from scratches and contamination. If, despite your care, dust, water or dirt still needs to be removed, please bear the following rules in mind: never wipe dust and dirt away dry; they may contain small quartz particles that are much harder than glass and can scratch it like a diamond. First blow away the dust with a blower brush before wiping the misted glass with gentle pressure using a soft cloth — ideally the microfibre cleaning cloth "Photoclear". For stubborn dirt, a little saliva is a good solvent — always to hand and free from abrasives, oil and aggressive chemical substances. Never use a paper tissue for cleaning, as it tends to lint and the paper fibres cling to the glass due to electrostatic charge. The extremely hard, water- and dirt-repellent MRC coating enhances the protective effect of these B+W filters.
