The Blackmagic Video Assist 5 3G allows you to add professional monitoring and high-quality recording capabilities to virtually any camera. The screen is 5’ with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Within this frame, you can determine cropping and focus. The monitor is equipped with 3G-SDi and HDMI inputs.

The Video Assist records the video signal in 10-bit 4:2:2 at 1080p up to 60fps and stores it on high-speed U1 SDHC or SDXC memory cards. The recordings can be saved as industry-standard Apple ProRes or Avd DNxHD. The monitor is powered by two optional Sony NP-F L-series batteries or the included AC adapter. The monitor has a sturdy aluminium casing and features six 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes, three on the top and three on the bottom.

The intuitive on-screen controls allow you to control and monitor settings such as brightness and contrast, histogram adjustment, audio level, time code, battery status and much more. The controls have a semi-transparent overlay, so you can continue monitoring the shot as you operate the Video Assist. The monitor has a wide viewing angle of 135 degrees so you can easily view the footage with several people at the same time. In addition, the monitor features auto-rotation so the image is always upright.

The Blackmagic Video Assist features 3G-SDI and HDMI 1.4 inputs so you can record from professional cameras and camcorders as well as DSLRs and system cameras. Via the 3G-SDI input, you can even monitor Ultra HD images. In addition, the monitor features loop-through outputs so you can simultaneously display live video or recorded clips on larger monitors or HDMI projectors while recording the image. Audio is included in the video signal and can be controlled via the 3.5mm stereo headphone output. The Blackmagic Video Assist records video in ProRes HQ, 422, LT, Proxy or DNxHD format.
