The Canon EF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM II combines a relatively compact, lightweight shape with improved stabilization and performance and is an impressively versatile telephoto zoom lens. This zoom lens is ideal for various subjects, from events to portraits and sports, and is characterized by the constant maximum aperture of f/4 for the right balance between consistent performance and portability. The optical design includes a pair of UD elements and a fluorite element to greatly reduce the occurrence of chromatic aberrations and color edges. This optimized design, along with a Super Spectra coating, also helps control flare and ghosting for more contrast and color accuracy when working in harsh lighting conditions and backlit situations.

Version II of this popular lens also includes a modified optical image stabilizer, which now compensates for five stops of camera movement and offers three different stabilization modes for different applications. A ring type USM and an internal focusing mechanism provide fast, silent and accurate autofocus performance, as well as permanent manual overrunning. Moreover, this lens is weatherproof for use in harsh environmental conditions.
