EIZO CS2740 27-inch monitor
The EIZO CS2740 is a 27-inch 4K UHD monitor from EIZO's ColourEdge series. This monitor has a 4K resolution of 3840x2160 pixels, which provides ultimate sharpness for photographers and perfect precision and full colours for all professionals. The CS2740 displays photos, videos and other graphic content exactly as they are intended. Thanks to the USB-C port, this all-rounder from the CS series works as the basis for a colour-accurate, digital workflow. The IPS panel of the CS2740 covers no less than 99% of the AdobeRGB colour space, as does the ISO-Coated V2 CMYK printing colour space. This allows the full colour spectrum of modern cameras to be optimally displayed. In addition, this monitor has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness of 350 cd/m², so you can edit graphics and photos with pixel precision. The Look-Up Table (LUT) of the CS2740 calculates internally with a particularly high colour depth of 16 bits, after which the display produces the signals with up to 10 bits. This configuration makes billions of colour tones available to calculate the precise reproduction on the monitor.
This monitor supports the most diverse video formats via the DisplayPort input, HDMI and USB-C. This means that the monitor can not only be integrated into PC-based workflows, but can also be used for HDMI players. The panel has a viewing angle of 178 degrees and is also perfectly anti-reflective, so that your eyes are protected from strain.
EIZO EX5 Colour Sensor
The EIZO EX5 Colour Sensor is an external calibration sensor designed to accurately calibrate ColourEdge monitors with the support of ColourNavigator 7 and Quick Colour Match colour management software. Thanks to the seamless interaction between EX5 and ColorNavigator 7 or Quick Color Match, colour and brightness deviations are corrected without loss during hardware calibration. An ICC profile is then created, which contains information about the current colour settings of the monitor for colour management.
The Colorimeter EX5 is connected to the computer via USB. ColorNavigator 7 or Quick Color Match then projects a series of different colour fields on to the monitor, which are measured by the EX5. This checks whether the colour reproduction of the monitor still corresponds with the set target values or whether it has changed due to factors such as ageing. If an adjustment of the monitor display is necessary, this is carried out losslessly as part of the calibration in the look-up table (LUT) of the ColorEdge monitor. A new colour profile is then created, which passes the current monitor settings on to the operating system and thus also to programs that support colour management. This profile contains information about monitor properties and settings. This profile does not contain colour corrections that reduce display quality, as is the case with software calibrations.
