Nikon Z6 body
The Nikon Z6 is a full frame mirrorless camera with a 24.5 megapixel FX-format BSI CMOS sensor, housed in a remarkably compact and lightweight body. The camera has a familiar grip, similar to that of a DSLR camera from the D-series PRO cameras. The controls and the display are in the familiar places and the menu is unchanged too, so you can get started right away in a way that feels natural. Completely new is the Z mount of this camera, which together with the compact body opens up possibilities with new lenses, such as the 58mm f/0.95 S Noct. The Z6 is also equipped with 5-axis in-body image stabilisation with 5.0 stops and an autofocus system with 273 autofocus points. This autofocus system covers as much as 90% of the frame, which is very impressive. The touchscreen on the back of the camera is tiltable, which gives you more creative freedom to shoot from different angles, and it also lets you move through the menu quickly. On the top display you can read the basic settings directly, so you don't have to go through the menu first. Also new is the electronic viewfinder with a high resolution of as much as 3.6 million dots, which makes for a very pleasant view. The magnesium alloy body is fully weather-resistant thanks to its pro-level sealing, so you can keep shooting even in bad weather.
With the Nikon Z6 you can shoot 4K Ultra HD video at 30 frames per second, and it offers super slow motion at 120 frames per second in Full HD resolution. Thanks to the microphone and headphone connections, you can monitor your audio properly while filming. If you want to go a step further, you can record in 10-bit 4:2:2 via an external recorder. For optimal connectivity, the camera features Nikon's SnapBridge, so you can easily transfer your images to your smartphone, for example, and you can even use your smartphone as a remote to control the camera. With the built-in WiFi you can also transfer images directly to your PC. Finally, you can now also charge your camera via USB-C, ideal when you're on the go.
Nikon has released a new firmware update. These updates greatly improve AF performance with face and eye detection, even when shooting at greater distances, with external flashes and in dark situations.
Firmware version 3.40 further optimises the movement of the yellow focus frame indicator on the camera's display to better keep up with the speed at which the camera focuses. This lets you follow the focus more accurately and take a shot with more confidence.
Nikon has also added support for FTZ II mount adapters and NIKKOR Z 24-120 F/4 S lenses.
