The high-quality, multi-layer HD coating significantly reduces reflections. The front of the optical element has a Super Protect coating to prevent smears and dust. The optical design provides clear, high-quality images. Both lens flare and ghosting are limited throughout the focal range, from the minimum focus distance to infinity.

When shooting at close range, the lens offers life-size magnification for refined, detailed close-ups. Thanks to a working distance of 13 centimetres (at life-size magnification), you can also capture all small subjects, such as insects, in pin-sharp detail. The circular aperture creates a natural, beautiful bokeh effect at an open aperture.

The lens is made of high-quality aluminium for an attractive, stylish look. The focus ring features Pentax's original Quick-Shift Focus System that allows you to instantly switch from automatic to manual focus after the subject is captured by the camera's autofocus system.
