The light can be switched between wide-angle and spot illumination using the control buttons. The beam angle is 100° for wide-angle and 30° for spot. Switching between the two is straightforward — simply hold down the on/off/light button to toggle from wide-angle to spot and back again. You can use spot mode to scout around while diving, then switch to wide-angle the moment you're ready to shoot. Spot mode has the added advantage of consuming significantly less power than flood mode, giving you more time underwater to find your ideal subject before switching on the wide beam.

The light source is COB (LED), a technology renowned for its even light distribution. The original design places the COB lamp in a donut shape. The wide light source is positioned on the donut, while the spot LEDs are placed in the centre of the light-emitting surface — the hole in the donut. Whether you're using wide-angle or spot illumination, the optical axis sits at the centre of the light-emitting surface, ensuring optimal exposure at all times.

'COB' is a type of LED, short for 'Chip on Board'. As the name suggests, multiple LED chips are mounted directly onto the board. By concentrating multiple chips in one place, a high light intensity is achieved. A large surface area can also be illuminated evenly, as the light radiates through the surface. SEA&SEA is the first manufacturer in Japan to place a 'COB' in a donut configuration. Even in bright conditions, the risk of shadows appearing in the centre is reduced, resulting in a consistently even light.

COB eliminates 'multi-shadows' in both wide-angle and spot illumination. The natural shadows bring the subject out clearly and sharply, making this an ideal light for photography and video exposure.
