The Shimoda Core Unit Mirrorless RST L25 (520-452) enables creators to carry and use as much equipment as possible in demanding conditions, whilst maintaining Shimoda's signature comfort and reliability.

Shimoda Core Unit Mirrorless RST L25, 520-452

RST stands for the access points at the rear, side, and top of the Core Unit. With the RST25 (Mirrorless - L25) Core Unit, you can use the rear to access all your gear, the side for quick access to the camera without putting your backpack down, or the top to reach longer superzoom lenses without opening the back panel.

The RST25 is specifically designed to fill the entire main compartment of the Action X25 backpack, allowing the backpack to accommodate and protect lenses up to 43 cm in length, such as the Sony 200-600mm, Nikon 180-600mm, Canon 200-800mm, Fuji 150-600mm, and OM 150-600mm. These superzoom lenses even fit when mounted on a camera body. PLEASE NOTE: RST Core Units are not compatible with the Shimoda Explore series backpacks.

Shimoda calls them Core Units because they form the heart of the Shimoda system. Thanks to their modular versatility, users can customise their kit with camera inserts of various sizes for different days, getting more out of their backpack. While the RST25 can carry the maximum amount of gear an X25 can handle, the ability to swap the Core Unit for smaller versions offers the flexibility to choose the most suitable Core Unit size for the adventure ahead.

  • Designed to fit perfectly in the Shimoda Action X25 backpack and maximise equipment storage space from top to bottom in the rucksack. This allows lenses up to 43 cm long to fit in the X25, such as the Sony 200-600mm, Nikon 180-600mm, Canon 200-800mm, Fuji 150-600mm and OM 150-600mm. These super-zoom lenses will also fit when mounted on a camera body. NOTE: RST Core Units are not compatible with the Shimoda Explore series backpacks
  • Integrates seamlessly with side access on the Shimoda Action X25 backpack. Also provides access to the camera/lens via the zip at the bottom of the expandable roll-top. And offers standard access to the entire camera system via the rear
  • The Core Units with mirrorless depth are ideal for mirrorless and DSLR cameras without grip up to 12 cm tall. The reduced depth creates a discreet backpack that meets the strictest international carry-on baggage requirements and fits in the shallow overhead luggage compartment on small regional aircraft
  • The included cover primarily serves as a storage bag for the padded Core Units, ideal for when your equipment is at home and not in use. The cover keeps the Core Unit sealed and dust-free. The secondary function is to use it as a packing cube. You can fill the cover with clothing or other frequently used items and take it with you in your backpack or roller case
  • The walls and dividers are made of EVA, which provides much better protection than the cheaper PE foam used in most camera bags. With EVA, Shimoda has more control over the density and quality of the materials used to protect your equipment. This also means the walls can be thinner and take up less internal space, whilst still offering superior protection
