The Shimoda Core Unit Mirrorless S25 (520-451) is specially designed for the slimmer Shimoda backpacks of 25 litres.

Shimoda Core Unit Mirrorless S25, 520-451

Together with the XS25 and L25, the S25 offers modular carrying options for users of Shimoda's 25L backpacks. Placed vertically, the S25 connects to the side opening of all Shimoda 25L backpacks. Placed horizontally, the S25 has the same width as Shimoda's 30L backpacks.

With the S25, you can bring a wide range of focal lengths and it is perfectly suited for most "trinity" 2.8 lens sets. Thanks to the side opening, you can configure your kit so that you have quick and easy access to a mounted camera and lens without having to put your backpack down. This is particularly useful in challenging and uneven terrain, or in wet conditions where you need to keep your backpack on your body.

They are called Core Units because they form the heart of the Shimoda system. Thanks to their modular versatility, users can customise their kit with camera inserts of various sizes for different days, getting more out of their backpack. The Mirrorless S25 accommodates what Shimoda considers the essentials, but by switching to one of the two other Core Units in the 25 series, you can make a 25-litre backpack "larger" or "smaller" simply by using a different Core Unit.

  • The Shimoda Core Units with reduced depth are suitable for mirrorless cameras and DSLRs without grip up to a height of 12 cm. The reduced depth provides a lower profile in your backpack
  • When the S25 Core Unit is positioned vertically, it fits seamlessly into the side access of all 25-litre Shimoda backpacks. Positioned horizontally, it fits in larger Shimoda backpacks and trolleys
  • The ML-25 Series Core Unit is specially designed for the Action X25, Explore 25 and Urban Explore 25. Both the backpack and Core Unit are slimmer than the larger 30-litre and above backpacks. By using a slimmer 25-litre kit, you have a more manoeuvrable backpack for more adventurous activities and a better fit for users with a narrower upper body
  • The included cover primarily serves as a storage box for the padded Core Units, ideal for when your equipment is at home and not in use. The cover keeps the Core Unit sealed and dust-free. A secondary function is use as a packing compartment. You can fill the cover with clothing or other items and take it with you in your backpack or trolley
  • The walls and dividers are made of EVA, which provides much better protection than the cheaper PE foam used in most camera bags. With EVA we have more control over the density and quality of the materials used to protect your equipment. This also means our walls can be thinner and take up less internal space, whilst still offering superior protection
