The Sony 135mm F1.8 FE GM Full Frame is a medium-sized, fixed focal length telephoto lens characterized by its clear and refined design. The maximum aperture of f/1.8 excels in low light conditions and offers more control over the depth of field for working with certain focusing techniques. The advanced optical design includes two extra-low dispersion elements, including one Super ED element, to combat chromatic aberrations and one XA (extremely aspherical) element, which reduces spherical aberrations for high degree of sharpness and clarity. In addition, a Nano AR coating has been applied to limit ghosting and lens flare for more contrast and color fastness when working in conditions with a lot of light.

In addition to the optical elements, this lens stands out because of the presence of an 11-blade circular aperture for the production of a soft bokeh. For controlling the focus, an XD linear motor system is used that is fast and quiet and that also offers more responsive control for manual focusing. The lens also has a dust and moisture-proof design to support shooting under difficult conditions and special focus hold buttons, an AF/MF switch and the manual aperture ring ensure more control while shooting.
