A directly driven Super Sonic Wave Motor AF system and internal focusing mechanism deliver fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance, and also contribute to a more natural, intuitive manual focusing feel. If you want to use slower shutter speeds, the built-in image stabilisation comes in handy. The lens's stabilisation works seamlessly together with your camera's built-in stabilisation.
Sony E-Mount 1.4x Teleconverter
With the high-quality Sony E-Mount 1.4x teleconverter, you can extend your lens's focal length by forty percent without any loss of image quality. Communication between the lens and the camera body, such as passing data for metering, autofocus and optical image stabilisation, is fully supported. The Sony full-frame teleconverter with E-mount also features a dust- and moisture-resistant construction, so it can withstand the toughest conditions.
An extender is a compact and lightweight way to bring your subject in closer and larger. With the Sony E-Mount 1.4x teleconverter, for example, you can shoot with the Sony FE 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS lens as if it were a lens with a range of 98-280mm. The maximum aperture is reduced by around one f-stop. That means with a lens with a maximum aperture of F/2.8, you can shoot at F/4.0 as the maximum aperture.
