The Sony FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS brings super-telephoto reach within easy reach of every photographer. The lens weighs just 654 grams, allowing you to take an impressive telephoto range with you without making your backpack heavier, ideal for wildlife, bird and travel photography.
Thanks to compatibility with the Sony 1.4x and 2x teleconverters (SEL14TC and SEL20TC), you can extend the range as needed to 560mm or even 800mm, for those moments when subjects seem just out of reach. The adjustable focus limiter is particularly useful when photographing through a fence or another obstacle, such as during a zoo visit or from the stands at a sports match: the lens does not have to keep searching between foreground and background and continues to focus effortlessly on your subject. Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation compensates for motion blur, so you can keep shooting sharp images handheld even at the maximum telephoto range.
The lens is built to go wherever your adventure takes you. A zoom lock prevents the lens from extending by itself while walking or travelling, and the non-rotating filter thread keeps your polarising or ND filter in the same position at all times, even while focusing or zooming. The dust- and moisture-resistant design ensures that changing weather conditions do not get in the way, while the nine-blade circular aperture creates a natural, smooth bokeh.
