The beauty dish is a large dish with which light can be reflected on the subject in a wide bundle. The product is linked to a reflector and thus ensures the reflection of the light. Due to the shape and material of the dish, the design acquires a soft and refined lighting. The reflector is therefore between the effect of a direct flash and that of a softbox.

Different sizes and versions

Beauty dishes are available in different variants, each of which creates a different effect on the subject to be photographed. The size depends on the distance to the subject. With a smaller studio it is therefore advisable to take a beauty dish with a limited diameter, while at longer distances a larger unit can be chosen. In addition to the size, beauty dishes are available in two colour variants: the white and silver version. The white version is the most common and softens the subject, while the silver version brings out more details. Finally, beauty dishes are available in both round and octagonal shapes. This combination allows a beauty dish to be easily converted into a softbox.
