Adox CHS 100 II 120 medium format film
Adox CHS 100 II 120 medium format film is an ortho-panchromatically sensitised black-and-white film with classic grain and a sensitisation optimised for grey tone separation. The film is made from two separate emulsions in a single layer and offers an exceptionally wide exposure latitude.
Thanks to its classic sensitisation, the film delivers very harmonious tonal separation. Compared to modern films, it distinguishes more effectively between lips/face, clouds/sky, and water/land. The film is coated on clear archival PET.
Adox CHS 100 II can be reversal processed (including the sheet films). Thanks to the backside layer, the sheet films can be retouched with photo pigments.
In 35mm and 120 format, ADOX CHS100 II features two anti-halation layers, making it ultra-sharp:
- Between the emulsion and the base (AHU)
- On the backside layer (anti-halation, anti-light piping, and anti-curling)
The backside layer is tinted to protect the film against the light piping effect inherent to polyester-based films. The effect is largely reduced but cannot be entirely prevented. For this reason, CHS 100 II, like any other PET-based film, must be protected from bright light while the film leader is protruding from the cartridge. Otherwise, light will penetrate through the base into the cartridge and cause fogging at the beginning of the film.
