For this high-quality polarisation filter, the film pieces are individually selected for maximum colour neutrality. After being bonded between high-quality optical glass, a further finishing process takes place — grinding and polishing. This guarantees excellent sharpness, even with very fast, apochromatic lenses.

The polarisation effect always comes from the polarising film bonded between two cover glasses. B+W polarisation filters are then finely ground and polished, which gives them their outstanding optical quality. A high-quality B+W coating completes the quality of a B+W polarisation disc. Master High Transmission (HTC) polarisation filters feature a polarising film with higher light transmission, while still delivering excellent effectiveness. The filter factor is only 2 to 3, which corresponds to approximately 1 to 1.5 f-stops.

An important criterion for a perfect B+W filter is a high-quality coating, also known as an anti-reflection coating. In a B+W filter, such layers are applied using thin-film technology — a fairly complex coating process. The coating material consists of special substrates applied in one or more layers, depending on the coating system. On the MRC nano-coated B+W filter, a water droplet remains virtually spherical. It rolls across the surface. This results in excellent dirt- and water-repellent performance.

The Master filter mount is durable and robust, thanks to its brass construction with improved grip from the optimised knurling. Easier mounting thanks to the new lacquering technology. The best choice for super wide-angle and telephoto lenses.
