At the heart of the Braun DigiFrame 858 is a 20.3 cm IPS screen with LED backlighting, displaying photos at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels in the classic 4:3 format. IPS technology guarantees consistent colour rendering and wide viewing angles, ensuring images retain their clarity from virtually any position in the room. With its compact dimensions of 201 x 160 x 22 millimetres, the elegantly designed frame sits discreetly in a wide variety of home environments.
Operation is intuitive: a magnetic infrared remote control attaches to the back of the device, so you'll never misplace it. Thanks to the user-friendly OSD menu, you can navigate through functions and settings without needing to connect to a computer. The Braun DigiFrame 858 operates entirely independently of a PC, drawing its content directly from SD and SDHC cards, as well as USB memory sticks to the 2.0 standard with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes. Up to 10,000 photos can be managed, although a maximum of 8,000 photos is recommended for optimum performance.
The versatility of the Braun DigiFrame 858 is evident from its extensive support for various file formats. Photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG can be played back without any issues, while the slideshow function adds variety with a range of playback effects and individually adjustable display times. An integrated G-sensor automatically detects the orientation of the frame and rotates portrait-format photos accordingly. A thumbnail view, along with zoom and rotation functions, is available for detailed viewing of your photos.
Braun doesn't limit the DigiFrame 858 to image display alone. The device doubles as a multimedia centre, playing music files in MP3, WMA and WAV formats via the built-in 1-watt speaker or the 3.5-millimetre headphone jack. Video clips in a wide range of formats — including AVI, MKV, MOV, MP4, H.264 and various MPEG variants — can be played back at resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Practical details complete the package: the integrated clock and calendar function makes the device a handy everyday object, even when no media is playing. Programmable on and off times ensure energy-efficient operation, while the automatic start function activates the device immediately upon connection to the power supply. Menu navigation is available in thirteen languages.
The Braun DigiFrame 858 offers two mounting options: the included stand allows for classic tabletop placement, while two VESA mounting holes with a spacing of 75 millimetres enable wall mounting. Power is supplied via a compact power adapter.
