It protects your lens, and while shooting it also helps reduce glare and reflections caused by stray light. The inner diameter features a molded satin texture and has a heat-resistant coating that prevents haze in front of your lens by reflecting infrared light. This helps keep your lens nice and cool. The lens hood features a bayonet mount with two mounting points and a filter adjustment window.
