With the all-round binoculars from the Explore Scientific BT series, you can experience everything up close. Thanks to the large, high-speed objectives and the state-of-the-art coatings on all lens surfaces, these binoculars produce bright and brilliant images even at night and in twilight, offering an exceptionally enjoyable viewing experience. The comfortable 45-degree viewing angle allows fatigue-free use, even when the binoculars are tilted at a steep angle.
A complete refracting telescope with full light performance is available for each eye. Experience an entirely new dimension of seeing. Objects are rendered almost lifelike in these binoculars, and viewing with both eyes is inherently very relaxed. This comfortable viewing method enhances the recognition of the finest details and effectively prevents eye fatigue from setting in quickly.
The BT-series binoculars are designed for intensive outdoor use. Thanks to the IPX6-standard sealed and nitrogen-filled design, fogging of the internal optics is effectively prevented, even in challenging weather conditions. The very lightweight magnesium housing saves weight and makes handling easier.
Explore Scientific has been an established manufacturer of very high-quality eyepieces in the astronomical world for many years. An optical system is only as good as its weakest component. That is why we have chosen to equip these large binoculars with a pair of quality eyepieces from the 62-degree LER series. With a field of view of 62 degrees and a focal length of 20 mm, the BT-82 binoculars produce a magnification of 24x. These wide-angle eyepieces therefore offer an excellent overview at a moderate magnification (image field 2.6 degrees). The large eye relief of 15 mm on these LER (long eye relief) eyepieces, combined with the soft, foldable silicone eyecups, also guarantees comfortable and relaxed viewing. For astronomy, a flat image field that is sharp right to the edge is advantageous and also provides a particularly impressive viewing experience during the day. Thanks to the waterproof design and argon filling, these eyepieces are absolutely robust and easy to clean.
Adapt the magnification and field of view to your individual needs and choose from a wide range of available eyepieces. All eyepiece types with an insertion diameter of 1.25 inches / 31.7 mm can be used with the BT-series binoculars. Particularly recommended are the Explore Scientific eyepieces from the 62- and 82-degree series with focal lengths of 8 to 26 mm. The magnification can therefore be varied from approximately 18x to 60x (binocular focal length ÷ eyepiece focal length = magnification). The eyepieces are held in the binoculars by a precision brass ring clamp, guaranteeing a tilt-free position.
Increase the contrast and visibility of objects and details by screwing the appropriate filters directly into the thread of the eyepiece holders. The use of colour and nebula filters should of course always be done in pairs. Compatible with all Explore Scientific screw-in filters with a diameter of 1.25" / 31.7 mm.
The 45-degree image allows a relaxed observation position, even when the binoculars are tilted at a steep angle. The individual interpupillary distance can also be adjusted within a range of 54 to 76 mm. Thanks to the fine helical single focuser, you can effortlessly achieve precise focus.
The integrated dew shields can be removed in conditions of high humidity and cold. This prevents the outer objective lenses from fogging up and effectively shields against stray light entering from the side.
A metal carrying handle mounted at the centre of gravity makes transportation easier and provides a firm grip when mounting on a tripod.
When using these large binoculars, a sturdy photo tripod with a suitable load capacity is strongly recommended. The connection is made via two 1/4-inch or one 3/8-inch threaded holes (standard photo tripod thread) in the tripod base of the binoculars. Ideal is the use of the optionally available Explore Scientific U-mount with field tripod. This has been specially designed for the large binoculars of the BT series and supports these instruments with absolute security. The fine-pitch mechanism with adjustable friction on both axes allows easy adjustment and tracking. Depending on the set intensity of the friction, the binocular position is held stable. Vibrations are kept to a minimum by the solid construction of the U-mount and the generously dimensioned stainless steel tripod. Even at high magnification there is no blurring, and the finest details can be observed.
