The Hoya 72 mm STAR 4X filter helps create more drama in your image by turning strong point light sources into four-pointed stars. There is also an overall softening effect for the whole image when using this filter. Determine the direction of the dots by rotating the filter.

The Hoya Star 4X filter is useful when:

  • Mirrored highlights in your image need more drama
  • Cars, signs and streetlights have strong reflective highlights
  • The whole image needs to be softened

Smaller, pointy light sources create more of a star-like effect, while larger, weaker light sources will bloom more.
