The Ilford Spiral tank accessory mod54 is an adapter for developing 6 sheets of 4x5 format film. This adapter is designed to fit in a Paterson 3-reel tank (model PTP116 – the tank for 3 standard film reels).

Ilford Spiral tank accessory mod54

Place the sheets in the tank and align the ridges on the sheets with the ridges at the top of the MOD54. One litre of chemicals is sufficient to fill the tank and fully submerge the sheets. Agitate the film according to the developer's instructions, usually during the first 60 seconds and then 10 seconds per minute. It is advisable to first test the development time and practise with the MOD54. When developing fewer than 6 sheets, it is wise to use dummy sheets to fill all the slots. This helps regulate the chemical flow. Place dummy sheets in the inner slots.

Designed for the inversion process. Stand development and rotary processes do not produce good results. ROLLEI RPX 400 and infrared films are too thin to use in the MOD54 without special modifications.
