The NiSi P1/P2 GND8 Soft filter (for compact series) is part of the NiSi P1 range for mobile phones and compact camera systems, including the X100, RX100 and GR3 mounts. It features the NiSi Optical Nano Coating, a double-sided and multilayer coating that provides a waterproof and oil-resistant coating. The filter is made of optical glass and has the same performance as the large square NiSi Filter systems.

The NiSi Soft GND filter is a rectangular filter that helps darken specific parts of an image, such as a clear sky, while allowing normal, untouched exposure in the other parts of the image. The Soft GND is designed to be moved up and down to control these bright areas. A neutral density filter with a soft transition line is particularly useful for images with trees, buildings, mountains and other elements that stand out high in the skyline.
