The Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III is a classic-looking light meter and guarantees a pure analogue experience. Both the meter needle and the exposure system are shown at a glance. This way you can immediately read the combination of aperture and shutter speed for still and cine applications. This product is a limited edition of the Sekonic brand, which has now been around for more than 70 years, and is therefore only available for a limited time.
The light meter even allows you to perform selective area measurements. The memory pointer remembers the previous reading. You just need to align the pointer with the analogue needle to transfer the brightness readings to the exposure dial. Once set, you can easily create a second reading to compare the brightness of the different lights and adjust the proportions between the highlights and shadows. Furthermore you can use the light meter to measure light on flat screen objects such as a green screen and artwork. It is therefore ideal for setting the exposure contrast.
The amorphous photosensor of the light meter generates its own energy. This means you don't need a battery.
The Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III features a needle lock, which ensures easy and accurate measurements. In addition, the lumidisc makes it possible to adjust the lighting contrast and measure the lighting intensity.
Useful combinations
Replace the Lumisphere with the Lumigrid to take reflected light readings from the target areas within the camera position. An optional Slide Set (Direct Reading Slides) allows you to adjust the reading range for reading bright objects.
