SmallRig 5642 Cage for Sony Alpha 1 II / Alpha 9 III
The SmallRig 5642 Cage for Sony Alpha 1 II / Alpha 9 III is specially designed for nature photographers. The cage features a three-point locking system, using a 1/4"-20 screw on the bottom and dual screws on the side to secure the camera and prevent flex, while built-in pads protect it from scratches. The integrated teleconverter support is compatible with Sony FE 1.4x and 2.0x models, reducing the load on the lens mount for more stable shots at long focal lengths.
Equipped with multiple mounting interfaces — including 1/4"-20 threaded holes, 1/4"-20 mounting holes, 3/8"-16 threaded holes, and ARRI 3/8"-16 mounting holes — this cage accommodates a wide variety of optional accessories. These include side handles (SmallRig ID 4015), top handles (SmallRig ID 3765) for smooth camera movements, monitor mounts (SmallRig ID 2903B), tripods (SmallRig ID 3989), power bank holders (SmallRig ID BUB2336), and mini V-mount battery plates (SmallRig ID 2987). The side also features a 1/4"-20 mounting hole for attaching single rod clamps (SmallRig ID 3598), magic arms (SmallRig ID 3873), and side handles (SmallRig ID 4346).
On the left side, the cage integrates a "HawkLock" quick release NATO rail for fast attachment and removal of side handles (SmallRig ID 4485, 5633). Additional mounting points include a cold shoe mount for microphones and lights, a strap slot for wrist straps (SmallRig ID 3848), and a QD connector for shoulder straps (SmallRig ID 4118B).
The bottom of the cage features an Arca-Swiss quick-release plate for direct mounting on Arca-type tripods (SmallRig ID 4060) and DJI RS 2 / RSC 2 / RS 3 / RS 3 Pro / RS 4 / RS 4 Pro gimbals, enabling quick transitions between stabiliser, handheld, and tripod setups.
In addition, the cage is finished with a high-quality wear-resistant coating, maintaining a professional aesthetic even after heavy use in the field. A built-in dual hex key on the bottom makes mounting and dismounting straightforward.
