Camera design
The camera's housing has been redesigned compared to its predecessor. The A7 IV features a fast and clear electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots. The LCD screen has also been updated. The screen is now adjustable and tiltable and features a touchscreen. Stability and comfort are hugely important when shooting photos and film, which is why the camera has in-body image stabilisation across 5 axes.
The menu of the A7 mark IV has been updated compared to its predecessor. You can now operate the menu via touchscreen, there's a handy dial to switch between photo/video/S&Q mode, and you can fit as many as two memory cards in the body. All these new features mean you can focus even more on creating!
Filming with the A7 IV
As a filmmaker, you'll get on well with the A7 IV! You can film in 4K quality at 60p without pixel binning. This ensures you're guaranteed top quality. As an experienced creator, you can also choose to film in 10-bit 4:2:2 and take advantage of S-CINETONE/S-LOG 3 picture profiles. This means you come home with cinema-quality footage that's easy to edit. You can save your own settings in the menu, think of the exposure triangle, for example. But also the settings of the picture profiles you film in.
Here too, you have fast real-time autofocus for tracking moving subjects or the subject's eyes. People or animals, it doesn't matter. The A7 IV features unique video tools, such as focus breathing compensation, a digital audio interface for connecting professional audio microphones, and a heat dissipation structure. The last feature is ideal when you regularly have long recording sessions.
Sony has taken many steps to improve ease of use with this full frame camera, including for videographers. Thanks to the new body, you now have the record button on top of the body. This means you can easily start or stop your recordings. This button is located right where your thumb naturally rests.
Always connected
Are you often on the go and want to share files quickly? No problem. The camera is easy to use and has fast ways to share your photos and videos. Thanks to the latest compatibility with USB-C Gen 3.2, an ultra-fast Wi-Fi chip and Bluetooth mode, you can transfer your photos instantly and share them with the world. The Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II is a lightweight full-frame zoom lens with optical image stabilisation and a versatile focal range of 28-70mm. This second generation is designed for compact Alpha cameras and offers reliable performance for everyday use, travel and all-round photography.
Thanks to the built-in optical image stabilisation, you take sharper shots in low light or when zoomed in. The Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II is fully compatible with all current and future functions of the Sony Alpha system.
The optical construction consists of one ED element and three aspherical elements, which together minimise aberrations and ensure a bright, high-contrast image. The Sony FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS brings super telephoto range within reach of every photographer. The lens weighs just 654 grams, so you carry an impressive telephoto range without adding weight to your backpack, ideal for wildlife, bird and travel photography.
Thanks to compatibility with the Sony 1.4x and 2x teleconverters (SEL14TC and SEL20TC), you extend the range as desired to 560mm or even 800mm, for those moments when subjects seem just out of reach. The adjustable focus limiter is especially handy when you're shooting through a fence or another obstacle, such as during a zoo visit or from the stands at a sports match: the lens then doesn't need to keep hunting between foreground and background and keeps focusing effortlessly on your subject.
