Camera design
The housing of the camera has been updated compared to its predecessor. The A7 IV is equipped with a fast and clear electronic viewfinder of 3.69 million dots. In addition, the LCD screen has been renewed. The screen is now adjustable and tiltable and has a touchscreen. Stability and comfort are of great importance when photographing and filming, which is why the camera is equipped with image stabilization in the housing over 5 axes.
The menu of the A7 Mark IV has been updated compared to its predecessor. For example, you can operate the menu using the touchscreen, there is a nice rotary knob to switch between photo/video/S&Q mode and you can store as many as two memory cards in the body. All these new features ensure that you can focus even more on creating!
Filming with the A7 IV
As a video maker, you can make good use of the A7 IV! You can film in 4K quality at 60p without pixel binning. This ensures that you are assured of top quality. In addition, as an experienced image maker you can choose to film in 10-bit 4:2:2 and benefit from the possibilities of S-CINETONE/S-LOG 3 image profiles. This ensures that you come home with cinema-worthy images and can easily edit them. You can save your own settings in the menu, for example the exposure triangle. But also the settings of the image profiles in which you film.
Here you also have fast real-time autofocus for tracking moving subjects or the subject's eyes. People or animals, it doesn't matter. The A7 IV features unique video tools, such as focus compensation, digital audio interface for connecting professional audio microphones and a heat dissipation structure. The last feature is ideal if you regularly have long recording sessions.
Sony has taken many steps in terms of ease of use with this full-frame camera, including for videographers. Thanks to the new body, you now have the recording button on top of the housing. This ensures that you can easily start or stop your recordings. This button is located where your thumb is.

Thanks to the latest compatibility with USB-C Gen 3.2, an ultra-fast Wi-Fi chip and Bluetooth mode, you can instantly transfer and share your photos with the world. The Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD Sony FE is a compact and lightweight all-in-one zoom lens. The lens offers a fairly large zoom range from wide angle to telephoto, which makes it very versatile. The precisely placed special lens elements are specially designed for the increasingly higher resolutions of today's digital cameras. Excellent optical performance is guaranteed with this lens throughout the entire zoom range.
It is the world's first all-in-one zoom with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at 28mm. In addition, the largest apertures at the intermediate zoom range are f/3.5 at 50mm, f/5 at 100mm and f/5.6 at 150 to 200mm. The lens contains a large number of special lens elements to effectively reduce chromatic and other aberrations; including GMA (Glass Molded Aspherical), hybrid aspherical, XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements. In addition, the BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating provides powerful anti-reflection properties to effectively reduce ghosting and flare, leading to sharp and high-contrast images.
The 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 is very suitable for close-up shots. On 28mm, the closest focusing distance is only 19 centimeters, which achieves a maximum image ratio of 1:3.1 . With the large f/2.8 aperture, you are able to create beautifully blurred backgrounds while being close to your subject. The close-up option is also remarkable in the telephoto position, with a shortest focusing distance of only 80 centimeters (a maximum image ratio of 1:3.8). This allows you to take very beautiful full-screen photos of butterflies and flowers, for example.
The lens contains a new AF drive system and focusing is almost completely silent thanks to the Tamron RXD focus motor. This means you can also use this zoom lens excellently for video recordings. The design of the 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 offers an excellent user experience due to its length of 117 mm and a weight of only 575 grams.
