The Sony ECM-MS2 compact electret condenser microphone is small but fine. With its small size, this condenser microphone does an excellent job as a camera microphone on compact professional camcorders.

The Sony ECM-MS2 Microphone is a compact Electret condenser microphone designed to be used with handheld camcorders. The compact length of 137 mm prevents the microphone from accidentally appearing in sight and makes transport easier. The ECM-MS2 offers both stereo and mono operation, increasing the versatility of the microphone. This allows, for example, that one channel to records ambient sounds, while the second channel is used for a second microphone to record voice. This makes the microphone extremely suitable for applications such as news gathering and documentary recordings on location.

The ECM-MS2 provides professional natural sound reproduction. It has a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz (stereo) and 70Hz to 20kHz (mono), excellent sensitivity of -32dB (stereo) and -36dB (mono), and an inherent noise level of less than 25dB SPL . The metal housing of the microphone improves the audio performance by blocking vibrations, resonance and RF sounds. The supplied windscreen suppresses the strong wind noise that is typical for unfavorable climatic conditions. A cable tie is included to secure the unconnected microphone cable during mono use. The ECM-MS2 offers an electronically balanced output on 48V standard external power.
