Canon EOS R8 body
The Canon EOS R8 is a very light full frame system camera with features of the Canon EOS R3 and Canon EOS R6 mark II, namely Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, 4K video in 60fps, 40fps when shooting and 24.2 megapixels.
Photography
The Canon EOS R8 is great for photography thanks to its 24.2 megapixel full frame sensor. This camera has a faster readout on the sensor, so you as an image maker have less trouble with rolling shutter. If you want to capture the action, the 30 fps RAW burst mode of the EOS R8 will help you on your way. In addition, you also have a preroll setting, where it takes half a second (15 frames) before you click the shutter. These photos are shot in both JPG and RAW. So you never miss the spontaneous moment again.
Besides the RAW burst mode, the R8 has more cool photo features, namely the focus bracketing and multiple exposure. The camera also has several shooting modes that allow you to create close-ups, HDR images and panoramas. This option is ideal if you are enthusiastic about capturing landscapes, cities or just the small details of the macro world.
Video
In addition to the photography capabilities of the R8, there are also many fine video specifications. You can work with the Canon EOS R8 in 4K resolution at a whopping 60fps, which is oversampled from 6K. This means that the sensor stores even more information, making your recordings even sharper and containing more details. In addition to the 4K capability, you can also record images in Full HD at 180 frames per second. These specifications make for nice slow motion shots. It is also possible to film vertically, so you can share the images on your favorite social media platform.
There are also a few features that really make the camera different, for example 3 or 5 second pre recording, where the camera records for 3 or 5 seconds before you even click the button. Like the preroll feature in photos, this ensures that you don't miss a moment. A feature that has come over from cinema cameras is the False Color function. This functionality helps you determine exposure. This is because the color is translated by a certain brightness in the image. Ideal for lighting a green screen. Image stabilization & autofocus
The Canon EOS R8 features Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. With this system, you no longer have to worry about whether your subject is in focus. This lets you focus on other important things while filming. You can use tracking in the different autofocus modes. The autofocus has been expanded in its various options. For example, you can now track animals and vehicles in addition to eye, face, head and body detection. In tracking, you have a cool feature, which is the custom preset. Here you can create and save your own box, so you can always choose your own focus points.
This camera works with electronic stabilization. In conjunction with the optical image stabilization of any lenses, this allows this camera to deliver sharp results.
Functionalities of the housing
The camera features the familiar flip touch screen on which you can see sharply what you are recording. You also have the ability to follow your subject through the viewfinder. This shows 120 images per second and is equipped with the OVF-assist, which stands for Optical Viewfinder Assist. This functionality ensures that even SLR users can get used to this viewfinder.
The camera has the familiar Canon buttons, and thanks to the icons you can easily see which button is for which purpose. A very nice button is the switch between photo and video mode. This allows you to easily distinguish the settings for photo and video and switch between them.
