The Blackmagic ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K Plus doubles the I/O of the original model with 80 12G-SDI inputs and 48 independent 12G-SDI ISO AUX outputs. It can connect to a wide range of Cameras and sources, delivering Video with resolutions up to 10-bit UHD 4K60 via the 12G-SDI programme outputs or 1080p and 720p webcam outputs via USB-C. The switcher features four multiview outputs with up to 16 routable windows that can display inputs, keyed video, images and photos from the media pool, as well as the programme output. Each input is connected to a built-in FairLight audio mixer supporting up to 298 audio channels. There are also two MADI inputs and four MADI outputs for mixing and routing audio.

The switcher has a reference input and each input features frame sync, frame rate converter and format converter, so you can mix and match cameras without genlock functionality. Upstream and downstream keyers and effects are supported in real time. The switcher can be controlled via the integrated front panel, optional Blackmagic ATEM panels or the downloadable ATEM Software Control Panel.

The switcher has a compact rackmount design with a built-in control panel and a large LCD screen, allowing you to view programme output and change switcher settings via on-screen menus. The compact design is perfect for portable live productions. The back of the switcher includes connections for 12G-SDI inputs, aux outputs, balanced audio and Ethernet for control. RS-422 is present for serialële control and MADI digital audio connections. Even with all this power, the switcher is extremely quiet thanks to its innovative, highly efficient thermal system.

The switcher features four independent DVEs that allow you to reposition graphics and up to four independent DVEs that allow you to reposition graphics and create picture-in-picture compositions with impressive results. The DVE lets you create professional picture-in-picture effects with customisable 3D borders, shadows and lighting. DVEs can also be used to create stunning DVE transitions with squeeze and swoosh effects to make your programming more exciting. You can even combine DVE transitions with custom graphics to create your own graphic wipe transitions.
In addition to the DVEs in the M/E rows, the 4 M/E Plus model includes powerful SuperSource multilayer processors with eight additional DVE layers plus a background layer, all of which appear as additional input sources for ATEM Constellation HD. Any video input from the switcher can be used for any SuperSource DVE; it is then merged over a custom background in the media pool. SuperSource is like having an extra multilayer VFX switcher built in. SuperSource is perfect for picture-in-picture views for Interviews, as you can set the effect while keeping the main DVEs free for other tasks.
Configurable up to 16, 13, 10, 7 or 4 views, including monitoring of programme, preview, inputs, media players, DSK and clean feed with optional labels and audiometers. The 4 M/E model features four dedicated multiview outputs and up to 48 outputs are independently routable.
