The Blackmagic Design Audio Monitor 12G G3 is a powerful audio monitor with great sound quality in a small 1RU size. That means it can be installed anywhere. The design is dominated by a large audiometer with accurate ballistics that can be changed between different audio measurement standards. There is a 12G-SDI input for monitoring audio from professional video equipment. In addition, the new model includes a 10G Ethernet SMPTE-2110 IP video input, so you can connect to IP broadcasting systems without an external converter. It also includes traditional balanced analogue XLR, HiFi and AES/EBU audio inputs. There is even an HDMI video output, so you can monitor via large TVs or computer monitors.
Designed from aluminium-treated metal, the Blackmagic Audio Monitor 12G is extremely strong yet lightweight. The chassis has a deep black finish and is anodised to match other equipment. Moreover, the all-metal design eliminates acoustic vibrations, even at loud volumes. The two large audiometers have 27 levels, with each segment separately incorporated into the aluminium chassis, so there is absolutely no light transmission between the segments, giving you an incredibly clear-looking meter. The front panel has buttons to solo each left or right channel, to choose between 12G-SDI, 2110 IP, AES/EBU, analogue or HiFi audio, and to mute the speakers. There is a convenient headphone jack directly on the front panel.
The Blackmagic Audio Monitor 12G gives incredible sound in just 1 rack unit size. The audio monitor includes a very high-power amplifier, so you can get the volume you need for clear audio monitoring in noisy environments such as live events. The secret is the dual subwoofer design that has the acoustic power to create rich, deep bass sounds even within the limited rack size. The digital processor also adjusts multiple frequency bands to achieve a ??smooth, flat frequency response. All this results in an incredible audio monitoring solution with great sound, but with a small size that fits into small broadcast trucks, fly-away kits, transmission racks and control rooms.
The amazing audiometers on Blackmagic Audio Monitor 12G have real analogue-style ballistics that correctly meet audio measurement standards. The secret is that each audiometer segment has an independent RGB LED that can be changed to any colour required for different meter standards. Moreover, each segment is individually processed and isolated so that no light penetrates between the segments. The meters can be changed between VU -20dBFS and -18dBFS, PPM EBU -20dBFS and -18dBFS, PPM BBC -20dBFS and -18dBFS, Loudness EBU +9 and +18 plus Loudness in K-weighting LUFS +9 and +18 scale. Self-adhesive labels are included so you can change the meter standard and then add the appropriate sticker for the chosen meter standard.
The front panel of Blackmagic Audio Monitor 12G contains a range of controls. Moreover, you get more than just audio monitoring, as you can monitor the 12G-SDI and 2110 IP video inputs via the built-in LCD screen. The LCD provides additional status, such as the selected input type, video standard and the selected embedded audio pair of the video input. The LCD also displays the current audio level. The front panel also features a smooth headphone/speaker volume control. There are solo buttons that let you listen to left or right audio. Moreover, you can use the arrow buttons to select the built-in audio channels up and down. There is also an input selection button and even a mute button.
