Description
Blackmagic Design Media Player 10G
The Blackmagic Design Media Player 10G is a recording and playback solution for Thunderbolt computers designed specifically for playback on live production switches or large broadcast systems. However, it does much more than just video in and out, as you also get 10G Ethernet and power to your computer! You get dual 12G-SDI outputs for playback of fills and keys, 12G-SDI recording and 10G Ethernet for accessing network storage and laptop power through a single Thunderbolt connection! It also has an independent Thunderbolt connector on the front, so you can just walk up and plug in your laptop! It also supports the full DeckLink API functions, so most video software just works!
The DaVinci Resolve 19 cut page has exciting new media player, editing and replay functions. DaVinci Resolve handles common video file formats, so you can play any files your client gives you! For broadcast graphics, DaVinci Resolve can play 19 video files that have an alpha channel, and these are output as a 10-bit SDI fill and key. In addition, the new multi-source viewer allows visual browsing of media, after which all clips that match in terms of time are displayed in a multiview. New "on air" controls allow the key output to enable the downstream keyer in a switcher, so a single button can automate on air playback. DaVinci can even add an automatic stinger! It's the perfect solution for news and replay!
Blackmagic Media Player contains everything you need for broadcast playback! Place it on the desktop or can be rack-mounted using a Blackmagic Universal Rack Shelf. The front panel has an LCD display with video and audiometer status information, including input, video standard and frame buffer depth for recording/playback. The audiometer can also be changed between VU and PPM. There is also a headphone jack, speaker and a button for switching on the speaker! To lock the speaker, press the speaker enable button twice! If Blackmagic Media Player is mounted in a control room, you can walk up via the Thunderbolt connector on the front and connect your computer directly to the front of the rack!
The Blackmagic Media Player includes high-speed Thunderbolt with video capture and playback, as well as 10G Ethernet and laptop power via a single cable! There are Thunderbolt connectors on both the front and rear panels, so you can connect both rack and laptop computers. With Thunderbolt, you get plenty of speed to handle large 4:4:4:4 and 4:2:2:4 files with alpha channels, in all SD, HD and Ultra HD video standards up to 2160p60. Blackmagic Media Player uses the DeckLink API, making almost all video software work. Moreover, the Thunderbolt link is bidirectional, so you can capture, process and output video in real time! Now you can use computers as a graphics processing engine!
The Blackmagic Media Player has many connections for monitoring, extended desktop and high-speed networking. All with a single Thunderbolt connection! The programme fill and key outputs can be muted, so the video is only switched on a switcher when the replay is started. Then the dedicated 12G-SDI and HDMI monitoring outputs are always active, so you can set up the next replay. There is even a balanced audio output for powered speakers. A 12G-SDI video input allows live input monitoring of the multiview switcher for replay. In addition, the 10G Ethernet provides quick assessment of shared storage for accessing ISO video files. There is even an extended desktop for the DaVinci user interface. Plus a USB extension for a keyboard and mouse.
Dual 12G-SDI video outputs allow Blackmagic Media Player to connect to live production switchers so that broadcast images can be transparently overlaid. Internally, there is hardware support for both RGBA and YUVA frame buffers. With RGBA graphics, the Blackmagic Media Player automatically transcodes the RGB pixels to 10-bit YUV on the fill output and the alpha channel to the 10-bit key output. The two SDI outputs are then connected to a live production switcher where they can be controlled via video. The key output ensures that the transparent elements in the images flow smoothly. All this means that Blackmagic Media Player is ideal for broadcast graphics and stingers!
