With its unique design and ability to use its components flexibly, the Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octa Softbox 70cm is the favourite light shaper of many portrait and fashion photographers. The depth of this softbox is 40cm, while a standard umbrella is perhaps half that. The defining features of a deep octabox are focused light output, increased directional control, minimal stray light and significant vignetting. Like a beauty dish, the soft light has a brightness that adds dimension and facial structure to the subject, while the light distribution becomes tighter. One of the most impressive features of the deep octabox is the ability to remove or add components as needed for the required light quality.
Using both diffusers produces the softest light, while using only the inner diffuser provides sharper contrast. When shooting without a diffuser, the octabox turns into a large reflector with high contrast, long projection distance and adjustable beam spread. The Deep Octabox's unique shape also reflects natural-looking light effects into the subject's eyes. The Octabox has a silver interior for maximum output and comes with a bag for storage and transport.
