Explore Scientific EXOS-2 PMC-Eight GOTO mount
The Explore Scientific EXOS-2 PMC-Eight GOTO mount has an all-new Goto controller developed according to US military standards. The PMC-8 electronics are durable and solidly built and include a 2-Channel Multiprocessor Micro-controller with 8 CPUs operating independently. Similar mounts on the market are equipped with only 2 CPUs. The mount consists of a WiFi Controller, which supports all necessary interfaces. The stepper motors are connected directly to this controller with a cable. Of course, the controller also features an ST-4 autoguider interface. The controller controls the micro stepper motors to ensure highly accurate tracking of an object.
Power is supplied by 12 V DC and the power consumption is a maximum of 1.6 amps. To control the mount, one can use a Windows 10 PC, Android Tablet or Android Smartphone with WiFi function. The specially developed APP ExploreStars offers a graphically very successful user interface. This enables the most accurate alignment and initialisation of the mount. The starmap with objects and library of information can be easily viewed and selected.
As indicated, heart of the controller consists of a fully self-contained 2-channel multiprocessor with 8 CPUs and a WiFi Ethernet 10/100 adapter with IP function, where use can be made via a browser, ASCOM, APP or serial connection. The name Open Goto indicates the possibility of writing your own firmware and loading it into the controller. This allows individual customisation of various functions of the device, as well as the creation of own object lists.
