Description
Explore Scientific iEXOS-100 PMC-8 Goto Mount
The Explore Scientific iEXOS-100 PMC-8 Goto Mount is a fully functional astronomical telescope mount with Wi-Fi Goto function, which is also ideal for equatorial tracking of mirror rex cameras with wide-angle or telephoto lenses. The iEXOS-100 features the revolutionary Explore Scientific PMC-Eight tracking system, which allows effortless and affordable navigation and tracking of all celestial bodies.
The integrated PMC-Eight tracking electronics are easily controlled via the free ExploreStars app on your own notebook or tablet. The ExploreStars app is available for Windows, Android and iOS. In addition, Bresser offers Explore Scientific's free ASCOM POTH Client (wired or Wireless) for download. This client works with almost all Sky software that supports the ASCOM standard.
Small Telescopes or DSLR cameras are attached with a standard Vixen-style dovetail plate. The iEXOS-100 is therefore very versatile and can carry your equipment with a total weight of up to 5 kg.
Goto systems play an important role in the world of amateur astronomy, as they allow Users to spend less time searching for specific objects and more time observing and photographing. Thanks to the PMC-Eight controller's versatile connection and connectivity options, you can control your telescope from a few metres away or communicate between computers from virtually anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
One of the striking features of the iEXOS-100 system is its German equatorial design. When it comes to tracking the stars with a Telescope or Camera, nothing can match the precision of a German equatorial mount. It is important to track objects as accurately as possible, as they rise in the east and set in the west. With a German equatorial mount, observers can very easily keep their celestial body in the centre of the Eyepieces, even for long periods of time. It helps astrophotographers avoid common astrophotographic pitfalls, such as field rotation or unwanted streaks.
Before you can track an object, you must first find it. And that can be a tricky task when dealing with a large number of stars under dark skies. The iEXOS-100 provides you with a powerful GOTO system that easily and quickly guides you to any celestial body. So you no longer have to worry about navigating the night sky. This integrated version of Explore Scientific's PMC-Eight system exceeds industry standards and uses eight independently operating CPUs, each of which can focus on clearly defined individual functions. This division of labour between the Processors results in a system that offers excellent responsiveness, efficiency, reliability and amazingly short control intervals for accurate tracking and precise compensation for Earth's rotation.
Although the GOTO system is quite complex internally, you can easily control it from your own Apple, Android or Windows tablet using the ExploreStars app. Thanks to its intuïtive user interface, you can quickly and easily align your Telescope, navigate through the stars and learn many interesting things about tens of thousands of celestial bodies. This dynamic app uses a database that is regularly updated. This keeps the app a reliable source for all displayed information.
The iEXOS-100 features smooth-running axis clamps with a good grip, allowing you to quickly move your telescope from side to side. You also have continuous fine adjustment for pole height (latitude adjustment). The mount is equipped with a small polar alignment tunnel, which allows the User to roughly align the iEXOS-100 with the Pole Star (Polaris). This is necessary to achieve ??good tracking quality. There is also a simple built-in Spirit Levels that allow you to level your Tripod. Other features include a battery compartment holder that powers the PMC-Eight Goto system with 8 C batteries (Batteries not included). In addition, two 1kg counterweights are included to keep the holder balanced. Various fluorescent elements are also attached in various places on the holder and tripod to help you orientate your setup at night.
