Description
Leica 14717 MONOPAN 50 Single Pack
Honouring the dawn of 35mm photography and the distinctive look that came with it, Leica introduces the high-resolution 14717 MONOPAN 50 Single Pack. The name is composed of the syllables "mono", "pan" and the number 50. "Mono" refers to the digital black-and-white cameras from the successful Monochrom series, which Leica first introduced in 2012. The syllable "pan" describes the film's exceptional panchromatic specification and the number 50 stands for the ISO value.
The German-made MONOPAN 50 is particularly suitable for landscape, architecture, cityscape and travel photography. The film can be developed in all black-and-white developers. It offers full control of black-and-white photography and the highest level of detail. Its vintage designer packaging recalls the beginnings of 35mm photography and its excellent specifications invite you to continue telling this story with impressive images.
The Leica MONOPAN 50 combines ultrafine grain with very high resolution up to 280 line pairs/mm and superpanchromatic sensitisation up to 780 nm, ensuring excellent sharpness and exceptional tonal reproduction. The film embodies Oskar Barnack's "small negative - big picture" concept, from which the original Leica Camera was born. With its specifications, the black-and-white film is ideally suited to Leica Lenses and shows its impressive performance, especially in large-format, high-quality prints and scans.
In Barnack's time, most films had low sensitivity. Leica reflects this historical context by choosing ISO 50/18°. Combined with high-quality Leica Lenses such as the Noctilux-M, Aperture-M and Summicron-M, the low sensitivity allows shots with wide-open aperture even in bright light, creating the unmistakable Leica bokeh. Thanks to its extended spectral sensitivity, the new Leica black-and-white film is also ideal for infrared photography and responds extremely well to filtration. This makes the MONOPAN 50 ideal for use with Leica colour filters. This gives images a high-contrast, dramatic effect and gives photographers creative control.
