Whether you're at an air show or on safari, this super zoom gives you the freedom to zoom in close and capture striking photos and 4K video. The 166x Dynamic Fine Zoom digitally extends the upper limit of the zoom to an incredible 4000mm. The BSI CMOS sensor and bright NIKKOR lens with a wide maximum aperture of f/2.8 deliver stunning results from sunrise to sunset. The tillable LCD monitor and built-in electronic viewfinder offer flexible framing options for detailed super-telephoto shots and 4K video.
Simply shoot 4K/UHD 30p recordings with stereo sound or record Full HD (1080p) videos at up to 60p frame rate. You can display video on an external monitor via the HDMI output while recording, with no additional information in sight. An external microphone can be connected to the built-in microphone jack for better sound. Manual film mode lets you adjust important exposure settings while filming. It's ideal for changing light conditions. The built-in time-lapse function is perfect for shooting cityscapes, star trails or plants opening up in the forest. You can record mesmerising time-lapse movies of around 10 seconds, which are played back at 25fps or 30fps.
Even when shooting handheld super-telephoto or in low light, the camera produces stable photos and videos. Nikon's dual-detection optical Vibration Reduction (VR) lets you shoot with shutter speeds up to five stops slower than would otherwise be possible. Active VR mode provides a steadier viewfinder and monitor image, which is ideal when walking around.
