The Nikon Prostaff 5 82-S Fieldscope are part of the Prostaff 5 spotting scopes, which are Nikon's entry-level scopes, and the successors of the RA III series. The bodies of the Prostaff 5 spotting scopes are about 20% lighter than the current RA III. The new zoom ocular lens minimises colour aberrations at the peripheries of the view field. The objective has a light gathering ability of 82mm, allowing for observation into the low light situations of dawn, dusk and overcast days when the nocturnal creatures are more apt to start showing themselves.
