The new lens system, which consists of eight elements in seven groups, uses three aspherical lenses. The ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens also minimizes chromatic aberration in the corners over the entire zoom range. Two lens groups also serve as O.I.S (optical image stabilizer) by shifting relative to each other. This is the first time that this technique has been used in a digital interchangeable lens for the LUMIX G series. Power is required to move the two lens groups. This is provided by a specially developed drive motor.
