The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 II is an addition to the popular LUMIX S series. The mirrorless camera delivers incredible photo and video performance in an attractive, compact design. The S5 II features a 24-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that lets in plenty of light and ensures razor-sharp images. The sensor, combined with the advanced image processor, delivers outstanding image quality for both photo and video recording.

Reliable autofocus and stabilisation

The renewed image sensor supports hybrid phase-detection autofocus for the first time in the LUMIX line-up. The hybrid autofocus system combines phase detection with contrast detection for fast and reliable focusing. The new system can easily recognise subjects, even in challenging conditions such as low light. Once focus is locked, it continues to track the subject across the screen. Continuous autofocus is also available when zooming in, as are AF micro adjustments.

The LUMIX S5 II has significantly improved image stabilisation, so you can also capture stable, powerful shots handheld. Active image stabilisation is very useful in challenging conditions, such as when using a telephoto lens or filming while walking. Active image stabilisation also ensures highly stable videos by optimising horizontal, vertical and rotational correction.

Exceptional video performance

The mirrorless camera offers exceptional video performance comparable to the LUMIX S1H. You can film in 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (3:2) and 5.9K (16:9) at 30fps, and in 4:2:2 C4K/4K at 60fps. You can easily record in High Frame Rate at up to 120 fps and in slow motion at up to 180fps. You can use various colour profiles such as 14+ stop V-Log and V-Gamut. Support for a REAL TIME LUT function allows you to upload colour correction LUTs to an SD card and apply them directly in the camera instead of during post-production. For professional videographers, functions such as Waveform Monitor, Vector Scope and Zebra Pattern have been added. Features such as System Frequency (24.00Hz) and Synchro Scan also make this camera suitable for professional use.

Excellent photos with minimal workflow

The camera has various options that allow you to create excellent photos with a minimal workflow. Functions such as AWB lock, MF assist and a new Live Crop function ensure a highly refined photography experience. An HDMI type-A and USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection provide extensive connectivity options. Thanks to WiFi 5GHz, you can also connect quickly and reliably to smartphones and tablets wirelessly. Dual UHS-II memory card slots ensure you always have enough space.

Panasonic LUMIX S 18mm F/1.8

The Panasonic LUMIX S 18mm F/1.8 is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 100° angle of view. Thanks to this wide angle of view, this lens is suitable for various applications, such as landscape, astro and architectural photography. In addition, the minimum focusing distance of 0.18 metres gives you more options when shooting close-ups. The lens construction consists of 13 lens elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical lenses, three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses, one UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The three aspherical lenses ensure superior imaging performance, while the three ED lenses suppress chromatic aberration. In addition, the large F/1.8 aperture with nine aperture blades delivers beautiful bokeh effects. The lens works smoothly and quietly with the camera’s fast AF system, because the digital signal between the camera and the lens is exchanged at up to 240 fps. When focusing manually, the focus point shifts in non-linear mode by a variable amount, depending on the speed at which the focus ring is turned. In linear mode, the focus point shifts by a fixed amount, depending on how far the focus ring is turned. When capturing videos, a mechanism in the lens suppresses focus breathing. In combination with micro-step aperture control, which allows the exposure to be adjusted smoothly, this mechanism makes professional-quality video recording possible. Thanks to its compact design and low weight of 340 grams, the LUMIX S 18mm F/1.8 is easy to take with you. In addition, the robust, dust- and splash-resistant design can even withstand demanding conditions down to -10 degrees Celsius.
