Types of drones
Drones are used for several applications these days. For instance, special drones for defence and transport are being developed, but the average photo and videographer or hobbyist can also use a drone. Our range consists of various drone types.
Drones with a camera
Most drones these days come with a built-in camera. This makes these drones suitable for taking aerial photos and video recordings. These Camera drones have resolutions from Full HD, up to 4K and sometimes even 8K. It makes for spectacular and razor-sharp images from above.
Drone with GPS
Besides a camera, the latest drones are often equipped with a GPS. GPS drones have an automatic return function (Return to Home), waypoint navigation and stable hover capabilities. Ideal for beginners as well as advanced drone pilots who want reliability while flying.
FPV drones
FPV stands for First Person View. With these drones, you watch live through glasses or a screen as if you were sitting inside the drone yourself. These drones are especially popular among racers and videographers who want to capture spectacular footage.
Mini drones
Small, lightweight drones that often stay under 250 grams are known as mini drones. This small weight means you don't need a pilot's licence. They are compact, affordable and perfect for those just starting out or want to fly a more compact size in addition to a slightly larger one.
Foldable drones
Foldable drones are easy to carry, ideal for travellers and content creators who want to take aerial shots. Despite their compact size, they can be surprisingly powerful.
Racing drones
Specially designed for speed and manoeuvrability. They are often part of the FPV class, but are more focused on competitions and fast manoeuvres than filming.
Our drone brands
At Kamera Express, we try to keep our range as wide as possible. Currently, you have the choice between drones from these two top brands:
DJI
DJI is the market leader in drones. From the compact DJI Mini series to the professional Mavic and Matrice series, DJI drones are known for reliable technology, sharp cameras and user-friendly controls. Similarly, with impressive flight performance, the DJI Mini 4 Pro and DJI Avata 2 are suitable for beginners and advanced pilots alike. The DJI Neo is another interesting entry-level option: light, stable and with surprisingly good Camera features for its price range.
Potensic
Potensic is a brand that focuses on user-friendly drones for beginners and recreational users. Models like the Atom and Atom SE stand out for their light weight (under 250 grams) and come with GPS functions and 4K cameras. Potensic drones are thus a simple and affordable alternative to the DJI Mini series.
What should you look out for when buying a Drone?
Buying a Drone is not something you do lightly. There are some important points to consider before making a choice, especially if you are just starting out.
Purpose of use: Do you want to take aerial photos, race, vlogging or just fly for fun? A drone for photography has different functions than a racing drone or selfie drone. So determine your purpose first.
Camera and image quality: Note the resolution of the camera (e.g. 1080p, Full HD, 4K camera or higher), whether a gimbal is present for stabilisation and whether you can take photos in RAW. The more stable the Drone, the higher the quality, the more professional your content.
Flight time: The average flight time of a Drone is between 15 and 30 minutes. The longer the flight time, the longer you can enjoy it without having to keep changing the Battery. But flight time is also determined by weather conditions. In strong winds, flight time decreases faster.
Range and controls: Most common drones have a range of a few hundred metres, while professional models can reach up to several kilometres. In addition, the controls are also model-dependent. One drone you control with an app, another with a separate remote control on which you can follow your drone with live video images, and yet another requires a phone to control.
GPS and sensors: GPS helps with stable flight, automatic return and tracking preset routes or moving subjects like yourself. In addition, drones with obstacle detection provide extra drone safety, especially for novice (chunk) pilots.
Weight and regulations: Drones are often divided between below 250 grams and above. Below 250 grams, drones fall under less strict regulations and you do not need a licence to fly. For heavier drones, you do need a licence to fly and registration in many cases.
Ease of use: Looking for a Drone that is ready to use right away? Then look out for automatic flight modes, ready-made profiles and whether the Drone is easy to connect to your Smartphone or controller. It's not necessary, but it does make your Drone adventures easy. Especially for beginners.
