Photo frames and photo albums: giving your images a place
You've taken photos, selected the best ones and edited them. Now your photos deserve a place that does them justice. Whether you want to hang one powerful image on the wall or store a hundred memories in a beautiful album, at Photospecialist you'll find everything you need. From classic photo frames and poster rails to digital photo frames that can play your entire camera roll.
Which photo frame suits your photos?
Not every photo calls for the same presentation. A portrait needs something different from a landscape, and an A3 print needs something different from a Polaroid format. Photo frames come in dozens of sizes, materials and styles, from a slim aluminium profile to a wide wooden frame. Want to present multiple photos together? Then a collage frame or a set of mounts is a smart choice.
When choosing a photo frame, consider:
- Size – Does the frame size match your photo print? Think of standard sizes such as 10×15, 13×18, 20×30 or 30×45 cm.
- Material – Wood adds warmth; aluminium looks clean and modern.
- Glass or acrylic – Standard glass is affordable; anti-reflective glass and UV protection are better for valuable prints, but also more expensive.
- Mount – A border around the photo that adds extra depth and impact.
What is a digital photo frame and when would you choose one?
A digital photo frame is a screen that plays your photos as a slideshow. Handy if you don't want to pick just one image but would rather show your whole collection. Modern digital photo frames support Wi-Fi, offer screen resolutions up to Full HD or higher, and are easy to control via an app. Good to know: the screen resolution and the size (often 7, 10 or 15 inches) largely determine image quality. A large screen with a low resolution can quickly look grainy, so always consider both specs together.
Photo albums: storing memories in an analogue way in a digital world
A photo album has something no digital screen can match: you can flip through it and add text or dates. Photo albums come in two main types:
- Pocket albums – You slide photos into fixed sleeves. Quick and tidy.
- Self-adhesive albums – You stick photos onto pages yourself, often combined with text or decoration. More creative freedom.
To attach photos in a self-adhesive album you'll need photo corners or photo adhesive. Photo corners are repositionable and won't damage your photos. Photo adhesive is permanent and suitable if you're sure how you want to build the page.
Poster rails: hanging large prints without a frame
Got a poster or fine-art print you want to hang without a heavy frame? Poster rails, also known as poster hangers or clip hangers, are ideal. You don't trim anything, you don't pierce anything: the print is clamped at the top and bottom between two magnetic or wooden strips. The result is clean, minimalist and easy to swap.
How do you store and present photos best?
- Don't hang or place framed photos in direct sunlight. UV radiation fades inks, even with pigment prints.
- For valuable prints, use acid-free materials, both in your photo album and for your mount.
