Tripods, there are many different types, sizes and possibilities. When you are looking for a new tripod, it is important to look at what you are going to use it for and whether the tripod has the right specifications, such as height, carrying capacity and equipment suitability.
A tripod is a type of tripod consisting of three legs which, in cooperation with a tripod head, control the stability and weight of photo and video cameras. This makes the tripod very suitable for making close-ups with telephoto lenses, where every movement has a major impact on the end result. With the tripod, the sturdy construction of aluminium or carbon and easy to stabilise legs allows an image to be captured several times with exactly the same frame, which is useful for macro and telephoto photography.
A monopod is a tripod with only one leg to provide extra support during photography and filming. As they have a fixed leg, the freedom of movement and speed is much higher than with the tripod tripod. Monopods are usually made of aluminium or carbon and are therefore sturdy in quality and can be classified in various price ranges. Due to its ease of use and transport, the monopod offers the ability to get just that little bit more out of your images in various situations.
A video tripod is a high quality tripod developed for use in combination with a video or DSLR camera. Due to the high load capacity and a professional video head, the video stands have the ability to work with heavy video equipment. The construction of a video tripod is usually made of high quality material, which allows it to perform optimally in various weather conditions as well as with a lot of weight.
A table tripod is a small and light tripod that can be placed on a solid surface to provide extra support for a 360, action or compact camera. Thanks to the compact construction, table stands can be used in a variety of situations, but are particularly useful when there is not much space to carry a large tripod. With three small legs you can stabilise the camera and quickly connect it via the screw mechanism. In addition to unique images, this tripod is also very suitable for experimenting in small spaces.
A gorillapod is a flexible and small tripod that can be clamped to different objects with three legs. This makes this type of tripod ideal for photography from a wide variety of angles. The gorillapod was launched on the market in 2006 by the American company Joby and grew within a few years to become an important player in the range of tripods on offer. Thanks to its unique construction and light weight, the tripod is mainly used for creative photography, but can also be used for professional purposes.
A selfie stick is a monopod tripod specially designed to make a selfie from different points of view, characterized by capturing a person near a known object. Since the introduction of the one-armed stick for the consumer, the self-iestick quickly became the most widely used tripod for photography with the phone. Although nowadays the majority of photos taken with a self-iestick are still captured with a smartphone, use with compact cameras and action cams has also increased considerably. Thanks to its light weight, the metal construction is easy to carry when travelling, on walks or a day out.
A photo mast looks a lot like a monopod, but these go just a step further. After all, the photo mast is really going up. It varies from 4 metres to no less than 10 metres in height. This ensures that you literally lift your photos to a higher level. The photo mast ensures that you are even more creative with the images, for example concert photography, home photography, landscape photography or events.
