Remote controls & Triggers
Almost all cameras have their own remote control connections. Flash units usually use standard cable connections or the accessory shoe. In the case of cameras this means a wide range of controllers with cords or transmitter/receiver combinations, for flashes the wireless triggers are usually universal.
Remote controls are strongly recommended for:
• Shooting on tripod and with longer exposure times, to avoid blur
• Portrait/model photography where the photographer often has to control/instruct
• Images to be mounted via software in or on each other (panorama)
Triggers make sure that when using one or more flashes:
• They go off at the right time (synchronously) when the camera is released
• The tripod and everything is not accidentally knocked over by tripping over flash cables
• For multiple flash units, they can be triggered to flash separately thanks to various channels
