The Ricoh GR IIIx is a digital compact camera with a GR lens with a 40mm angle of view in 35mm format for snapshots, travel and street photography. The compact, lightweight body has professional image quality. Depending on how the lens is used, this versatile angle of view can create different image views. You can capture an image that is comparable to a 30mm semi-wide angle, or create a completely different visual expression. The camera also offers a range of new and improved post-processing functions.

The GR IIIx has a high-resolution APS C-format CMOS image sensor with a wide dynamic range. So it is no problem to print in large format. The GR lens has a unique optical technology. The lens consists of 7 elements and 5 groups, has a focal length of 26.1mm and an aperture of F/2.8. Both the image sensor and lens have been optimized for the best possible image quality. 

The camera features a new image processor: GR Engine 6. It improves the essential high image quality performance of the GR for a greater degree of detail. Faster processing enables the combination of a high-resolution sensor and multi-tone 14-bit RAW. This also contributes to improved response and functionality for autofocus and video.

The GR IIIx is equipped with a powerful "Accelerator Unit", a powerful processor that ensures high image quality. The signal output from the image sensor is sent to the image processor after optimal processing. This reduces noise and ensures superior resolution and colour reproduction across the entire sensitivity range. It also makes it possible to shoot at ISO 102400.

Camera shake is reduced for sharper images, even in snapshots taken in a fraction of a second. Shake Reduction (SR) is installed while the GR IIIx remains compact. It minimises vibrations on three axes, including roll, horizontal and vertical tilt. These compensation effects yield as many as 4 steps of shutter speed if it is longer than 1/1000 second.

The difference between the Ricoh GR IIIx and the Ricoh GR IIIx HDF is the addition of the Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF). This filter emphasizes high highlights and produces soft, smooth images, allowing you as a photographer to easily produce cinematic images. To visually express this function on the camera, the colour of the shutter release button has been changed to greyish silver.
