Saramonic SR-SG Mic
With the Saramonic SR-SG Mic, you can record voices and ambient sound in high quality and reliably. This shotgun microphone features a supercardioid directional pattern, so it mainly picks up what happens in front of the microphone. Ideal for videos, podcasts, documentaries and on-location livestreams.
The SR-SG Mic is a clear upgrade from the Soundbird V6. It can handle louder sound: the maximum SPL has been increased from 125 dB to 128 dB, so audio is less likely to distort when things get loud. The noise floor has also been improved. The signal-to-noise ratio has been increased from 78 dB to 80 dB, resulting in quieter and cleaner recordings, especially with softer voices or quieter scenes. And because it works from -20°C to 50°C, you can take it with you for any situation.
The output on this new version has also been made smarter for longer cables: the output impedance has been lowered to 100 Ω. That helps limit signal loss over longer XLR cables, keeping your audio stable in a larger professional setup. Connection is via 3-pin XLR and you need 48V phantom power. If you have a camera or recorder with XLR and phantom power, you can plug it in directly. If you work with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you’ll need an adapter that provides phantom power.
