Camera design

The camera housing has been updated compared to its predecessor. The A7 IV features a fast and clear 3.69 million dot electronic viewfinder. Plus, the LCD screen has been revamped. Stability and comfort are of great importance when photographing and filming, which is why the camera features 5 axis image stabilisation in the housing.

The A7 mark IV's menu has been updated compared to its predecessor. For instance, you can operate the menu by means of a touchscreen, there is an intuitive rotary knob to toggle between photo/video/S&Q mode, and you can store up to two memory cards in the body. All these new features allow you to focus all the more on creating!

Filming with the A7 IV

The A7 IV serves videographers really well! You can film in 4K quality with 60p with no pixel merging. Ensuring top quality. Plus, as an experienced videographer, you can choose to film in 10-bit 4:2:2, and to take advantage of the S-CINETONE/S-LOG 3 picture profile options. This ensures you'll come home with cinema-worthy images that can easily be edited. You can save your own settings in the menu, such as the exposure triangle. As well as the image profiles settings in which you film.

Here too, you enjoy fast real-time autofocus for tracking moving subjects or the subject's eyes. People or animals; it's all the same. The A7 IV features unique video tools such as focus compensation, a digital audio interface for connecting professional audio microphones, and a heat dissipation structure. The latter feature is ideal if you regularly record over long sessions.

Sony has really looked into ease of use with this full-frame camera, including for videographers. Thanks to the new body, you now have the record button at the top. This means you can start/stop your recordings with ease. This button is located at your thumb.

With the latest compatibility with USB-C Gen 3.2, an ultra-fast Wi-Fi chip and Bluetooth mode, you can instantly transfer your photos and share them with the world. In addition to sharing your images, you can also make automatic backups thanks to the Bluetooth mode, so no more going home, worrying you may have lost your images.

The Sony FE 24-70mm F/2.8 GM is a wide-angle to short telephoto lens designed for FE-mount mirrorless cameras. Along with a constant max. F/2.8 aperture, this lens ensures consistent performance throughout the zoom range. With this constant aperture, this lens also works superbly in low-light conditions and with selective focus techniques. Complementing the luminosity is an impressive optical design, which includes three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements. One of the aspherical elements features an XA designation, providing sophisticated surface precision and a remarkable ability to minimise spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range. A Nano AR Coating has also been applied to individual elements to significantly minimise lens flare and ghosting, for greater contrast and colour neutrality. The advanced optical design and versatile speed go hand in hand for deployment in a wide variety of settings and lighting conditions.
