Description
Sony A7R VI + FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II
This bundle includes the Sony A7R VI mirrorless camera and the 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II lens.
Sony A7R VI
The Sony A7R VI combines 66.8 MP with 30 fps burst shooting in a single camera. For this, Sony developed a new Exmor RS Stacked CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR2 processor with an integrated AI unit. The result is a full frame mirrorless camera that lets you capture both the highest resolution and fast action, without having to choose.
Uncompromising resolution
The 66.8 MP Exmor RS Stacked CMOS sensor has a high readout speed, which strongly reduces rolling shutter and makes 30 fps burst shooting in 14-bit RAW possible. With 16 stops of dynamic range and Dual Gain, detail is retained in the shadows, even in backlight or high-contrast situations. Pixel Shift delivers images of up to 270 MP for large-format prints and reproduction work where no detail can be lost. The new RAW compression system offers three levels: Lossless Comp, Compressed HQ and Compressed, so you can choose the right balance between image quality and storage space for each assignment.
Flagship-level continuous shooting
The A7R VI achieves 30 fps in 14-bit RAW with the electronic shutter, blackout-free. That is more than four times faster than its predecessor, giving you enough frames to capture the decisive moment, even during fast action. With the mechanical shutter, you shoot at 10 fps in 14-bit. AF/AE calculations run up to 60 times per second, keeping focus and exposure accurate in every frame, even when your subject suddenly changes direction. Pre-Capture buffers up to 1 second before the shutter is released, so you capture images you would otherwise have missed. With Continuous Speed Boost, you switch seamlessly between 15 and 30 fps, saving storage space during calmer moments and instantly switching to full speed when the critical action starts. The 5-axis IBIS has been improved to 8.5 stops in the centre and 7 stops at the edge, allowing you to capture sharp handheld images at 66.8 MP in situations where a tripod was previously needed.
Advanced AI autofocus
Real-time Recognition AF+ recognises people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, and instantly locks onto the right subject. With people, the system recognises not only the person as a whole, but also separate parts: eye, face, head and body, so you can focus precisely on the right person, even in a group. If the subject briefly leaves the frame, the system immediately picks it up again as soon as it becomes visible. The new AUTO mode automatically selects the recognition type, which is useful when you do not know in advance what will appear in front of the lens. With 759 phase-detection points, the AF also performs well in low light.
8K video with professional audio
For video, the A7R VI supports 8K 30p and 24p (8.2K oversampling) and 4K 120p across the full sensor width, all in 10-bit 4:2:2 All-Intra. This gives you maximum flexibility in post-production, without the compression artefacts of long-GOP formats. In Super 35, you shoot 4K 60p and 4K 120p. Dual Gain ensures shadows in dark scenes retain rich detail where other cameras show noise. LUT import and monitor LUT display the grade directly on screen during recording, so you can already assess the final look on set. For stable handheld footage, use Dynamic Active IBIS. Breathing Compensation compensates for unwanted lens movement during focus changes and Auto Framing automatically keeps the subject in frame, ideal for vloggers and interviewers working solo. The new Tally Lamp on the front clearly shows when you are filming. The XLR-A4 XLR adapter delivers 32-bit float at 96 kHz in four channels, separately from the video track. Thanks to 32-bit float, you no longer need to adjust your gain: you can correct clipping afterwards in the edit. The internal microphone has adjustable wind and noise reduction.
A completely redesigned system
The new OLED viewfinder has 9.44 million dots and 0.9x magnification, providing a large and clear view, and is around 3 times brighter than that of its predecessor, a noticeable difference outdoors in sunlight. The colour range is DCI-P3 with HDR display mode, so what you see in the viewfinder matches the final result after grading. The 4-axis LCD touchscreen tilts and rotates in every direction, ideal for shooting from unusual angles. The new NP-SA100 battery of 2670 mAh offers around 17% more capacity than the NP-FZ100, delivering approximately 600 shots per charge via the viewfinder or 710 via the LCD. Charging to 80% takes around 55 minutes via USB-C (PD 45 W), so you can add enough capacity during a short break. Battery Health Check monitors the battery status on the camera and charger, so you are not caught off guard in the field. The two USB Type-C ports offer USB 3.2 Gen 2 for fast data transfer and USB 2.0 for power. Both card slots are dual-format CFexpress Type A and SD UHS-II. The magnesium body is dust- and splash-resistant, the grip is deeper for use with heavy lenses and illuminated buttons also work in the dark. The Σ-shaped graphite cooling chamber keeps the temperature under control during uninterrupted 8K recordings of up to 120 minutes. The camera supports Sony's Camera Authenticity Solution, including the C2PA standard, which makes it possible to verify that an image was captured with a camera and not generated by AI.
Sony FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II
The Sony FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II is a wide-angle lens with extremely fast autofocus, designed specifically for the full-frame Sony E-mount system camera. Sony uses several advanced lens technologies, so you can expect exceptional sharpness. For instance, this lens contains no fewer than four aspherical elements, including three XA glass elements and several ED glass elements. This enables you to achieve optimum resolution over the full range. Also, the lens elements are finished with a coating to reduce internal reflections. This significantly improves brightness and contrast for even sharper images. The front lens element has a Fluorine coating, making dust and grease less likely to adhere.
Thanks to its 11 aperture blades, the Sony FE 16-35mm GM II's aperture is almost perfectly round. Your subjects are focussed in the foreground, and you can create a beautiful bokeh effect in the background. The lens has no fewer than four XD linear motors, ensuring that the Next Gen AF is not only super fast, but also very precise and extremely quiet. It is also possible to shoot as many as 30fps in burst mode, so you never miss a moment. With a focusing distance of just 22 centimetres and a magnification ratio of 0.32x, you can get nice close-ups, but wide shots are no problem either.
The biggest differences from its predecessor are the outstanding image quality in the corners, improved autofocus, optimised image stabilisation and the addition of an aperture click switch. A striking feature is its smaller size and weight. The lens weighs as much as 20% less than the Sony FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM. Weighing just 547 grams, you can therefore use the lens for various forms of photography and videography. For example, capturing landscapes, portraits, travel, as well as night shots. The 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II is great for shooting video with a 120fps burst mode and minimum focus breathing, another nice improvement on the 16-35mm F/2.8 GM.
Adding a coating significantly reduces chromatic aberrations, lens flare and ghosting. In addition, the lens is dust and moisture resistant, allowing you to keep shooting or filming even in extreme weather conditions. With a maximum aperture of F/2.8 and minimal noise, this lens also performs well in low-light conditions. This makes the Sony FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II a true all-rounder.
